A POLICEMAN allegedly assaulted his girlfriend because she chased his drinking mates out of their house in Gulf, acting provincial police commander Snr Insp Michael Pakyei says.
He has been charged with assaulting the girlfriend.
“The policeman was embarrassed by his girlfriend’s actions and assaulted her in front of his friends,” Insp Pakyei said.
He said the policeman was charged and was expected to appear before the Kerema District Court this week.
“We have also arrested and charged two police reservists over unlawful discharge of police-issued firearms in public places, drunkeness, assault and other disorderly behaviour towards the public.”
One of them was fined K500.
Insp Pakyei said reservists Michael Roseva, 25, from Karaeta village, Gulf, appeared before the Kerema District Court charged with unlawfully discharging a police-issued firearm while under the influence of liquor at his village last week.
“He was fined K500 in default three months’ jail. He has already paid the fine.”
Another reservist has been charged with unlawfully discharging a police-issued firearm at Apainaipi village in Central.
He is expected to appear in the district court this week.
Insp Pakyei said another reservist was arrested for alleged assault and spreading false information about a victim. “The reservist had hit his victim’s shoulder with a bush knife after accusing his victim of practising sorcery.”

  • Talk about police and their demeaning behaviours – it never stops!. The media is honestly doing its job by exposing these bad elements and you’d expect that they learn from all the negativities and improve their performance thus the reputation of the police as a disciplined force for the better but it doesn’t do any good at all. Aren’t there anymore good people left in the police force – and if they are they’ve been out numbered by the bad ones.
