A POLICEMAN who allegedly shot and killed his wife with a police-issued firearm in Jiwaka on May 3 has been charged with wilful murder and detained at the Barawagi jail in Chimbu, a senior police officer says.
Jiwaka police commander Chief Insp Gideon Kauke told The National that the policeman had been charged and his court files had been completed.
Chief Insp Kauke said police were awaiting the doctor’s post-mortem report to assist them in their investigation.
He said based on the report, the firearm would then be sent to the police forensic lab for a ballistic test.
Chief Insp Kauke assured the officer’s wife’s relatives that the incident was being investigated and the officer was in jail and would appear in committal court.
Chief Insp Kauke said if it found sufficient evidence, he would stand trial in the National Court.
He said the relatives of the deceased had also demanded compensation from police.
It was alleged that the policeman had an argument with his wife on the morning of May 3 at their home and he used a firearm to kill his wife.

  • Let justice rules now, one is above the law. let the murder witnessed for himself and go to life sentence in jail. Because he is policeman give him hard penalty and he will suffer the consequence of he did. He does not have a human brain but an animal brain. Their children are traumatized and psychological effect due to their mum’s killing. Court also must consider the relative demand and children welfare . All his entitlements must be shared among the two parties concerned ( Relatives and Children) . Don’t allow any bail application from him.
