Officer fails to appear before court

A POLICE reserve charged with using threatening words to his uncle at a police station in Port Moresby was allowed a K400 court bail yesterday.
Tess Lavari, a police reserve police enforcement unit, failed to appear in court for his case several times.
Lavari appeared from custody at the Boroko District Court yesterday after his warrant was executed by the arresting officer of his case on Monday.
Magistrate Laura Kuvi said the warrant was extended in court several times but was never executed until the court summoned the arresting officer to court on Monday and it was executed the same day.
Lavari’s previous bail was forfeited and a new bail allowed.Prosecution did not object.
He is to remain at his home at Mahuru village, Kila Kila in Port Moresby pending the completion of his  case.
Police alleged that Lavari, 32, from Yokea, Malalaua in Gulf, threatened his uncle on Jan 5,  at the Boroko Police Station.
Lavari will return to court on April 11 for his trial.
