POLICE in East Sepik are out in full force to protect the provincial and government buildings following threats to burn it down.
The threats came via phone call to Governor Sir Michael Somare in Port Moresby, according to the province’s police commander Peter Philip.
He told The National from Wewak yesterday that some frustrated people called Sir Michael with reasons known only to them.
Philip said the people wanted to burn down the East Sepik  administration and  government buildings.
He said that police were guarding the properties and workers in Wewak after being alerted.
Philip asked if such behaviour was how people wanted to farewell the governor.
