A Port Moresby-based lawyer and a businessman charged with the murder of his wife has been committed to stand trial at the National Court.
Felix Kange, 30, from Maya village in Pangia, Southern Highlands, appeared before senior magistrate Cosmas Bidar at the Waigani Committal Court where the ruling was delivered yesterday.
Bidar told Kange that the court had considered evidence from state witnesses.
He said it was an unfortunate case in which a young woman had lost her life.
“As alleged by Kange, the gun was loaded prior to killing his wife because there was an imminent danger present, but the facts clearly showed that there was no imminent danger present prior to the incident,” Bidar said.
He said the evidence supports the case as criminal negligence.
“The evidence before me supports the case as criminal negligence on the part of the defendant (Kange) and therefore, as far as the court is concerned, the evidence is sufficient enough to warrant a trial at the National Court,” he said.
Bidar ordered Kange to appear at the Waigani National Court on April 24 for listing.
Kange is in custody at Bomana prison.
He is represented by lawyer Fredrick Lunge.
Police allege that Kange  murdered his wife Regina Morove by using a gun to shoot her.
According to police, the alleged crime occurred on May 14 at Kange’s home at the suburb of Garden Hill in Port Moresby.
