PROJECT fees for students attending schools in East New Britain (ENB) must be paid by parents, an official says.
ENB education board (PEB) chairman Wilson Matava said parents would only be paying approved fees to help schools achieve some of their plans for the academic year.
“The project fees are to be paid by parents and have been approved by the PEB since 2020,” he said.
“Parents will be paying only 20 per cent under the tuition fee free (TFF) policy.”
Matava, who is also the provincial administrator, told The National that these were the approved PEB project fees for 2020 to 2022 for all schools in ENB and the amount payable was 20 per cent for this year.
The 20 per cent approved project fees for all schools in ENB: elementary school – K40; primary school – K70; day – secondary/high school – K260; technical and vocational education training (Tvet), NC (national certificate) – K300, Tvet (conventional) – K240; boarding – secondary/high school – K380; Tvet (NC) K420; and, Tvet (conventional) – K360.
Matava said church agency schools in the province were also included in the policy and their charged fees were: Elementary school – K5; primary – K7; and, high/secondary and Tvet – K10.
He said schools were required to refund any amount paid beyond these approved project fees under TFF arrangement.
Matava also urged parents and guardians to settle all outstanding project fees for the previous years.
