Offseason movement worries coach

CREDIT Corp Harlequins head coach Billy Rapila says player movements during the off-season is always a challenge rugby union teams face.
Rapila said it was a challenge maintaining the bulk of the playing roster but believed Harlequins’ success in winning this year’s Capital Rugby Union competition would ensure players remain with them.
“That’s always a challenge,” Rapila said of player movements.
“Destractions happen in the off-season. Rugby league teams come and poach our players.
“We don’t pay our players, we try to give them the values of the game, the club and what it stands for.
“And what we want to build out of a young man moving forward.
“Hopefully the grand final win will generate that interest back into the club and bring more younger players through.
“We hope to rebuild in the next couple of months through offseason, preseason and through the new year.”
Harlies were the underdogs that caused an upset during the CRU final, beating Kramer Ausenco Brothers club last month.
The club joined CRU in 1993 when the competition was called POMRU and have been in existence for 28 years. Harlies have won 16 premiership titles since their establishment. Prior to this season, their last grand final appearance was in 2013.
