PRIME Minister Peter O’Neill will officially open the Keleone canoe racing on the Aroma Coast, Central, on Sept 5.
At the same time, O’Neill will open a new church building, the groundbreaking of which he officiated last year.
This was confirmed by Abau MP and Minister for Public Serviced Sir Puka Temu in Port Moresby yesterday.
Sir Puka handed over K100,000 for the annual canoe race on the coastline of Aroma.
He was confident that the PM would also make a contribution to the canoe race.
“As the local MP, I am committed to community-orientated events and activities to benefit the rural people,” Sir Puka said.
Keleone Canoe Racing Syndicate member Ian Gapi said the kind gesture by the MP to promote canoe racing in Aroma Coast was appreciated.
Gapi said this year’s race would be bigger and better, with participants from Rigo and Kairuku.
