THE 19.5km Kagua-Erave Road, rural electrification and Yalo and Kagua River bridges were opened by former prime minister and Ialibu-Pangia MP Peter O’Neill last Saturday.
Community leader Maina Pano said 120,000 people in the district were delighted to use the sealed road for a comfortable travel.
“Previously, it took us an hour and 30 minutes to reach Ialibu and four to five hours to Mt Hagen,” he said.
“Now it takes us one and hour and 30 minutes to Mt Hagen and 15 to 20 minutes to go to Ialibu.
“Buses and taxis are now using the road to serve villagers.
“The sealed road is benefiting 15 schools in the area, including Kagua Secondary School.
“It enables students to reach school on time.”
Pano said the projects were initiated during former MP James Lagea’s term.
He also opened Yalo and Kagua bridges.
He added that the road sealing was continuing.
