O’Neill: Stop using Covid-19 as an excuse

The People’s National Congress (PNC) party is urging the Government to stop using the Covid-19 as an excuse for not paying health workers and for failing to meet promises to small-medium enterprises.
Party leader Peter O’Neill said in recent days it had been revealed that the Government reduced funding for church health services around the country, blaming the cut on the coronavirus.
“The only way this Government ever responds to the cries of its own workers is when a negative news story appears in the media,” O’Neill said.
“Now it has been revealed in the media that church health services are being forced to lay off workers because the Government has not delivered the funding it promised.
“The funding for church health services in the budget was passed into law by Parliament, and now (Prime Minister James) Marape and (Treasurer Ian) Ling-Stuckey are not delivering the money that was committed.”
