SUSTAINABLY Achieving Solution (SAS) Foundation was officially launched in Kokopo after 15 years of operation, its founder James Wong says.
“The foundation is registered with the Investment Promotion Authority and we are working with the Buk Bilong Pikinini Foundation to deliver literacy training programmes,” he said.
“The official launch of the non-profit organisation is to enable it to expand nationwide.”
Wong said the foundation aimed to impact positive changes by helping communities socio-economically, especially in East New Britain.
“We have collaborated with development partners in the private, public and other non-governmental organisations, both domestic and international,” he said. Our vision is to engage, empower and embrace Papua New Guineans to believe in themselves.”
Wong said its services included literacy trainings for both adult and children, as well as financially literacy.
“We try to help communities to change their mindset to think positive and become better,” he said.
The foundation was set up in 2007 after Wong established his security firm, Security Assistant Services, to provide in-house training to security guards who were mostly illiterate.
“From those trainings, we expanded to provide literacy trainings to rural communities,” Wong said.
