MORE than 180 people graduated with certificates in small-to-medium enterprise (SME) budgeting after attending two weeks of training at 9-Mile outside Lae that Saturday.
Consultancy firm Eco-Tourism Consultancy Services conducted the training that saw 186 people graduate last week.
The participants were trained in managing micro, small and medium enterprises, budgeting and good governance.
Training facilitator and consultancy services chief executive officer Francis Steven told participants to change their attitudes in order to be successful small business owners.
“People need to change first before any other changes can take place,” he said.
Steven said people in communities needed to change and become law-abiding citizens in order to have a peaceful and stable society.
“In that way businesses can continue and your small enterprises won’t be affected.
“So this certificate gives you the edge to apply for SME funding and loans from banks.”
Steven said the consultancy service was partnering with the law and justice sector to train people to make better use of the resources and opportunities available to them.
The training was supported by AusAid.
Steven also acknowledged Huon Gulf MP Ross Seymour and Morobe Governor Ginson Saonu for endorsing the concept and its delivery to people in the wards.
Morobe police commander Chief Insp John Daviaga presented the participants with their certificates.
