Paint supplier backs Lae initiative

DULUX Group (PNG) Limited will provide K90,000 worth of cleaning tools and K62,000 in labour cost to help the Lae City Authority (LCA) to engage workers to clean the city, an official says.
Dulux Group supply chain and operations manager Frederick William Slavin said that the company had a recycling waste programme they would use to fund a hand-up programme service partnering with the LCA.
“Your programme is giving employment to the locals and that is what we want to do,” he said of LCA’s initiative.
“Dulux Group wants to be more engaged with the community.
“LCA partnering with us to keep the city clean is right, and we want to work with you.
Slavin said aside from beautifying the city working with the equipment and materials would teach those engage by the city authority.
LCA chief executive officer Robin Calistus said the aim of the hand-up programme was to give work to unemployed people and to keep the city clean.
He said LCA had close to 4,000 workers engaged to work and the majority were women.
