Papindo Supermarket allocates space for arts, craft vendors

THE Papindo Supermarket in Lae has allocated space in its new shopping complex for arts and craft vendors.
Sales and marketing manager Sopia Bilong said it was to help promote arts and craft with other businesses during the Christmas period.
The vendors were selected by the company management to sell their items in the shop free of charge.
“They are from different arts and crafts specialties,” she said.
Bilum and meri blouse vendor Noah Arthur from Lufa in Eastern Highlands thanked Papindo for promoting the arts and craft businesses in Lae.
She sews most of the items which she used to sell on the streets of Lae. She also travels to Madang, Port Moresby and Rabaul to sell her products.
Angela Damien and Salome Pinjo from Angoram in East Sepik were allocated a spot to sell necklaces, earrings, hand bands, bilums, basket and carvings.
Pinjo said most of the items were made in their village in Angoram.
Malu Giwising from Markham district who weaves bilum thanked Papindo for providing them a space to sell their items.
