Paradise College in Port Moresby teaches the Cambridge international curriculum to enhance competitive learning for students, school director Safak Deliismail says.
“Children from kindergarten to grade five are taught using the British curriculum, which comes with a lot of day-to-day practical lessons while grades six to 12 are taught on the PNG curriculum,” Deliismail said.
The school had its 11th graduation of grades 10 and 12 this week.
“British curriculum is more challenging to students because it allows more hands-on activities,” Deliismail said.
“The students are involved in practical work.
“The prep to Grade 8 do practical in the classroom while the grades 9 to 12 do in the science laboratory.
“The British curriculum was designed to involved students in practical work.”
The school was established in 2007 with its first graduation the following year.
It has 35 teachers who expect high performance from students.
Deliismail said the school graduated 35 Grade 10 students.
He said of the 35 students, 67 per cent scored distinctions, 25 per cent credits, 7 per cent upper pass and 1 per cent pass.
“We are expecting great performance from the grade 12s as the results are announced next week,” Deliismail said.
