Paradise Foods celebrates safety milestone

PARADISE Foods Ltd in Lae has recorded 1500 Days (four years, one month and one week) free of workplace lost time Injury (LTI).
This translates to a total of 733,743 hours where there was no loss of productive work time.
Chief executive officer Michael Shields said: “I thank and congratulate all staff for making workplace safety our highest priority.
“Everyone has an important role to ensuring we operate in a safe manner.
“While we celebrate this milestone, we don’t stop our daily focus on workplace safety.”
Jane Wickham, general manager people and performance said: “Our safety focus is ongoing.
“For example, we sought assistance of the PNG Fire Service to conduct annual fire drills at both locations (Lae and Port Moresby).
“This month’s focus is on cancer awareness, particularly breast cancer.
“Only recently we had health specialists visit to address staff on the recent polio outbreak.”
The new record of 1500 LTI free days supersedes the site’s previous record of 474 LTI-free days in Aug 2014.
The company is fully committed to building a strong safety culture throughout the business.
It maintains focus on initiatives around safety awareness and training to ensure staff understand and comply with safety policies and procedures.
