Paraka’s party to be launched

PROMINENT lawyer Paul Paraka’s (pictured) Grassroots United Front (GRUF) Party will open its national headquarters this week with several major events to follow in the lead-up to the 2017 general election.
The opening of the party headquarters will be at Apex field, Boroko, National Capital District, on Thursday in an all-day event, from 8am to 6pm.
Traditional singsings will be on show from 10am till 2pm, with party founder and leader, Paraka, to address people from 2.30pm till 5.30pm.
The party will be launched in a two-day event on Friday and Saturday at Unagi Oval, Gordon, with people from Gulf, Central and NCD to be present.
This will be another big event with traditional singsings from all 22 provinces to be on show from 10am to 2pm on both days, with Paraka to make the keynote address from 2.30pm to 5.30pm.
The GRUF will also hold fundraising dinners at both Stanley Hotel and Sir John Guise Stadium on Friday and Saturday.
“The national convention for the GRUF Party will be held on Wednesday, April 12,” Paraka said.
“During the convention, the party’s 100 policies will be unveiled.
“For the first time in the history of PNG, a well thought out set of unique party policies and guidelines for future development and progress of this country will be spelt out meticulously and intelligently.
“The policies are original ideas never been advocated, promoted and implemented in the country before.
“These policies are uniquely-tailored and designed to raise the living standards of all Papua New Guinean grassroots.”
The party will hold regional launches at Eriku in Lae on April 13 in an all-day event from 8am to 6pm, Pope John Paul Oval in Mt Hagen on April 14 in an all-day event, and at Paul Paraka Field at Baiyer River in Western Highlands on April 15.
He said after the issuing of writs on April 20, the party would showcase its 111 candidates, the largest by a single political party in PNG.
