Parents of 2-year-old patient allowed into hospital

THE parents of a two-year-old tested positive for the Covid-19 in Port Moresby are allowed to be with him in isolation at the Port Moresby General Hospital, an official says.
National Pandemic Response Controller David Manning said they were still working out the protocols and processes to be followed in the isolation of children who tested positive.
“This is the second two-year-old child to be confirmed,” he said.
“The first was in Western on Aug 7.”
The third youngster to be tested positive was a 10-year-old in Western earlier.
Manning said he would comment further on the children’s cases today.
Rita Flynn Isolation Centre manager Dr Gary Nou declined to comment on the two-year-old’s cases, after being given permission to so National Capital District Provincial Health Authority chairman David Toua.
Toua however said Nou would be in a better position to decide what was appropriate to be released to the media.
The National understands that the two-year-old was tested positive at the Rita Flynn Isolation Centre.

    This really needs to be explained. Some things do not sound right and totally ridiculous in this Covid-19 figures.

  • yes Tugu, there is no facts and figures in this reporting of this covid, everything is mixed up, reporters are not asking good questions when such things arise or maybe they are not police to ask questions, maybe their role is limited to only to reporting what they hear and not to drill the interviewer with questions, maybe let the appropriate authorities take it up further when there i a query or questions to be answered.

  • surveillance, contact tracing and investigative skills seems to be lacking in covid 19 management…authorities must look into this, as well as testing and analysis.
