Parents told to be mindful at home

A SCHOOL principal has warned parents to be mindful of how they behave at home as their children report them to their teachers.
Zion Zeal Elementary School principal Erik Warika said children reported to teachers how they were treated at home.
“You have to be mindful of your behaviour to your children,” he said.
“Your children come and tell us every thing of what you had said or how you are treating them.
“When they are wearing slippers to school, they tell us that their parents cannot afford to buy their shoes and socks.”
Warika urged parents not to be angry with their children if they did not win any prizes during the year.
“You must still be happy with them. You must tell them to work hard next year,” Warika said.
“Remember they still have a long way to go in their education.”
Warika said this during the closing ceremony for the academic year for the preparatory, elementary one and elementary two classes at Waigani.
