Parents urged to invest time, effort into child’s education

Sinasina-Yongomugl MP Kerenga Kua has urged parents to take their parental responsibilities seriously in order to ensure they reaped what they sowed in their children’s education.
“Return home early as 3pm to prepare food for your children, wash their clothes, dress them neatly and provide a decent meal for them each day to boost them morally,” he said.
Kua made this statement when officiating at the opening of Andy Siure Primary School in Moguma, Waiye LLG in Kundiawa-Gembogl, over the weekend.
“Children depend on parents and it is parent’s responsibility to return home early to prepare children’s needs to ensure kids attend school to become educated citizens in future,” he said.
“This is your day witnessing why parents continue to invest so much in children’s education because we hope to achieve rich investment.”
Kua commended school patron Andy Siure as well as the community and committed K50,000 to the school.
He recalled the story of former MP Joseph Teine who had visited his grade one class and teased the children to study hard when giving them lollies and biscuits.
“We thought that being present in school every day, we would eat lollies or creamed biscuits so we had to be committed to class without realising the importance of the education we were getting.”
Kua also urged children to obey their parents at home and teachers in classroom to become productive citizens.
