TRANS Pacific Assurance Ltd is sponsoring K65,000 worth of insurance for six months for the Port Moresby Nature Park.
“We genuinely feel that the nature park is an icon here in Port Moresby, and emphasise the difficulties that they are encountering due to the Covid-19 pandemic,” Trans Pacific Assurance chief executive officer Philip Tolley said in confirming the insurance.
“As an insurance company, we understand the importance of insurance for any business, especially for a not-for-profit organisation like Port Moresby Nature Park.”
The park’s chief executive officer Michelle McGeorge said Trans Pacific Ltd’s support would boost the park’s progress during Covid-19.
She said the six months’ insurance was greatly appreciated and would be directed towards the park’s Wildlife Appeal and help keep their 550-plus animals healthy and well cared for.
Tolley was accompanied by Trans Pacific Assurance chairman John Ruimb on a tour of the park.
McGeorge said the park was operating well towards reaching its wildlife appeal target, with 70 per cent reached so far.
She thanked all those who had donated, especially business houses, corporate sponsors.
The National is one of the park’s sponsors.

  • This Park collects charity donations from all over. I remember the late 70s and the 80s when this park was a Botanical Garden and the then Curator Audry Miller used to ask for donations just like Michelle McGreorge is doing now. My query is can it (The Nature Park) not sustain itself from the fees it collects. I am sure crowds go there on daily basis. A bit of history,,, When we were at UPNG, we were asked by the Curator to bring in plants and seedlings when returning to school after christmas breaks. So some of the bush growing there are from all over PNG contributions by UPNG students in the late 70s and the 80s.

  • It’s good to get donation but please make good use of the funds, for the better of the organisms living there
