CAPITAL city residents who want to attend the “NCD Christmas on the Park 2011” celebrations have been assured of their safety and security at the venue.
Following reports of petty crimes there, National Capital District Governor Powes Parkop said security “has been boosted”.
He said although there were “one or two cases of petty crime” reported at the Jack Pidik Park Christmas celebration, people should not be worried about security.
He said six security groups comprising youths from the surrounding areas and registered security companies had been engaged to provide security for the public during the 23-day event.
He said like many other major events held around the country, one or two petty crimes might be committed “but that does not mean that NCDC has taken security lightly”.
Police have reported a few incidents of bag snatching, fighting and children going missing at
the park.
