NATIONAL Capital District Governor Powes Parkop says repairing the collapsed section of the new 5-Mile road will cost K3 million.
“The responsible contractor will carry the cost of repairing the road and we have engaged an independent audit team from Cardno Davies Engineering Consultants to investigate the actual cause of the problem.
“We are not clear at the moment who is actually responsible for the collapse but wish to assure the people that
after the audit team findings are made known, the liability will be made to pay for the bill,” Parkop said.
Hebou Construction, who built the road, is doing excavation work on the road.
“It will take us three months to complete the road repair.
“As I had addressed parliament earlier, we will wait until the audit team completes its findings and we will know then who should foot the bills,” the governor said.
