Parliamentary committee on violence eyed

The Religion Youth and Community Development Department is working towards establishing a gender-based violence (GBV) parliamentary committee.
Deputy secretary community development programmes division Joe Itaki said a submission was ready to go to the National Executive Council for the setting up of the committee.
He said the GBV secretariat in the department has completed a submission for the minister to take to NEC.
“After that’s established then we will have the national coordination committee of the GBV,” Itaki said.
“We are basically going ahead with the implementation of the GBV strategy.
