Parties to meet dispute costs

A MAGISTRATE has ruled that because of the lack of funding to the district land court, the cost of sending court officials and security officers to inspect land will be meet by the disputing parties.
Hagen District Court’a Magistrate Lydia Karre was presiding over an appeal case on a land dispute in Baiyer district.
Karre told the two appellants and the respondent that they had to meet the cost of fuel for the vehicle, and travelling allowances for the security officers and court officials to visit the land under dispute.
She said the court did not have the money to pay for such trips.
She told them that before she could make any decision on the appeal case, by law, she had to travel to the scene and inspect the disputed land.
Karre told the parties to discuss with the local land clerk the cost and how much each of the three parties should contribute.
As soon as everything was arranged, she said they would arrange for a time to travel.
She said the sooner the better because by October, she would be on holiday.
