Pastor needs your help

National, Normal

THE lack of facilities for specialist medical treatment is forcing many in PNG to go abroad for treatment for a second chance at life.
Mark Beto Wia is a Lutheran church pastor who earns very little.
Last year, he did not feel well, and flew to Port Moresby for a medical check.
He underwent a check at the Sir Buri Kidu Heart Institute and was diagnosed with a coronary heart disease.
Pr Wia needs to fly to Cairns, Australia, for a coronary angiography.
The result would then determine whether the 48-year-old needs angioplasty or surgery.
The coronary angiography procedure would cost around K80,000.
Aware that raising the funds is difficult, the institute says he would be supported financially where possible to undergo the procedure.
Pr Wia, who is from Yaramanda village in Enga province, is hosting a fundraising dinner at Fu Gui restaurant today.
Those who know him and are willing to assist could deposit money into a BSP account # 1000979218.
He can be contacted on 7670 8782 or Meck Lawai on 7689 3333.
Organisers of the fundraiser have arranged Rev David Piso, head bishop of the GutNius Lutheran church, to be the guest speaker at the fundraiser.
He will speak on the work of the church, and the contributions Pr Wia has made to evangelism.
