‘Haiti’s education system needs rebuilding’

National, Normal

EDUCATION secretary Dr Joseph Pagelio has called on Papua New Guineans to help rebuild the education system in Haiti.
Dr Pagelio made the call when he launched the PNG National Commission for Unesco’s Haiti Appeal at Fincorp Haus.
Acting director for the PNG national commission for Unesco Selan Levi stressed that it is time that PNG helped other countries in need.
He said PNG was one of the countries that received much assistance from other countries, groups and organisations during disasters such as the widespread drought and Aitape tsunami.
Fundraising activities being planned include a walkathon for Port Moresby residents and a phone-a-thon  to be held in conjunction with the PNG National Broadcasting Corporation.
Nationwide, schools are also participating in the ‘Kina Per Child’ drive.
