A VISITING world church leader has warned parents to spend more quality time with their children.

Pr Ted Wilson, the world leader of the Seventh-Day Adventist church, is visiting Papua New Guinea for the second time. He addressed more than 1,000 church members and visitors at Jack Pidik Park on Saturday.

Wilson advised parents not to give money to their children to go and enjoy themselves.

“As parents, God wants you to spend time with your children,” he said.

Wilson, who arrived in Port Moresby last Thursday for a three-day tour of the country, told the crowd that it was a privilege to be in PNG.

He said he would tell the whole world of how PNG citizens had great respect for the Bible.

Under the theme “Christ’s centre of the sanctuary” Wilson said: “God has a plan, a wonderful plan so keep looking to Jesus because He will see you through.

“The only way to be perfect is through Jesus Christ.”

Wilson said real and true happiness could be found when one put trust in God.

Wilson left the country yesterday for a tour of the Solomon Islands.

He also thanked the Government for its close relationship with the church and helping the church to prosper.

The week-long series of sermons was highlighted with the baptism of 30 people.

Wilson said a new life was portrayed through baptism and as people were baptised, they became a new creation.
