EIGHT pastors graduated from Goroka Baptist Bible College (GBBC) yesterday.
The college which had always hosted its graduation ceremonies in Goroka, moved the event to Port Moresby for the first time and held it at Grace Baptist Church, in Gordon, last night.
Pastor Jack Gundu Amugl said the college was established in 1974 and more than 400 men and women had graduated from there and were working throughout the country.
“We have seen an increase in law and order and disharmony among the communities so we are training these pastors to reach out to the people and share God’s love through the word of God,” he said.
“Also this year the school has changed and there will only be two semesters compared to previous years.
“We look forward for the graduation of the two semesters in March next year.
“For the first time this year we have come out of Goroka to host the graduation of the eight students,” Amugl said.
He said the college has missionaries from United States and Australia helping with the teaching programme.
The college has multiple programmes in both English and Pidgin.
Amugl said they were working on accrediting the college with the Ministry of Higher Education, Researcy, Science and Technology.
Pastor David Kinau, from Baimuru, Gulf, who graduated yesterday said he had a passion to serve God and was thankful that he had been trained.
“With the skills and experience, I will hope to reach out to my people of Ihu and Baimuru and other parts of PNG,” he said.
Philip Harry, from Madang, said it had been a blessing to be part of the college.
“We will use this opportunity to challenge our lives and ministry and to tell the truth about the word of God and support and promote the Goroko Baptist Bible College,” he said.
