A POLICE patrol boat and a smaller one have been sent to Daru to help police operations in Western for the state of emergency (SOE) operations.
Deputy Comm of Police (DCP), operations, Donald Yamasombi said the patrol vessel Baki 2 and a smaller one were for the Mobile Squad 7 (MS7) to use.
MS7 were not able to start their operation because they needed a boat. “We all understand that, that part of the country has a lot of waterways and needs boats for mobility,” he said.
DCP Yamasombi admitted that it had been quite a while that security personnel did not have a presence along the coastline and the southern borders.
He said police would patrol the area all the way to the last village at Bula on the Indonesian border.
