POLICE will not release any alleged offender without proper residential address or identification during the state of emergency (SOE).
Deputy Comm of Police (DCP), operations, Donald Yamasombi said police would arrest, charge and detain the alleged offenders in the police cells until the courthouses were reopened.
DCP Yamasombi said the court houses were closed.
“If we arrest anyone now, they will be locked up in custody until the SOE ends (scheduled for June 2),” he said.
“I want the public, especially those criminal-minded people, to stop getting involved in criminal activities.”
He said people should not try to commit offences.
DCP Yamasombi said, so far, there had been fewer crimes reported in the country during the SOE than before. He said people should continue to behave when everything went back to normal.
DCP Yamasombi said the SOE had also changed people’s attitude.
