ALL eyes are on this year’s Commonwealth weightlifting championships in Penang, Malaysia, from October 25-29.
Oceania Weightlifting Federation secretary-general Paul Coffa said with the youth world championships and the Commonwealth championships being held together, Penang expected to have in the vicinity of 90 countries participating with hundreds of lifters and officials, including Papua New Guinea.
The venue of these championships will be the newly-renovated sporting complex SPICE.
An indoor arena located in the heart of Penang, it is the largest and the most comprehensive multi-purpose indoor venue in northern Malaysia.
The Equatorial Hotel, which housed the 2011 Junior World Championships, will once again accommodate the officials and delegations for the upcoming weightlifting championships.
Coffa said all preliminary entries would need to be in by August 19 and the final entries for the senior, junior and youth categories needed to be submitted by September 25.
This included accommodation forms, media forms and transportation forms.
