PRL women dominate zone side

THE Southern Zone women’s side was named this week for the national championships in Goroka next month.
The 26-member side was taken from the three sides who took part in last week’s zone trials in Port Moresby.
These teams were Port Moresby Rugby league’s Green and Gold sides and one from the Port Moresby Suburban Rugby League.
Despite pulling out of the zone trials after a dispute over the standings in the men’s division, the PRL sides provided the majority of the Southern Zone side.
The Suburb side contributed six players to the squad.
Southern Zone: Freda Waula, Cathy Neap, Vero Waula, Joan Kaupa, Meloni Sond, Irene Torepa, Catherine Anjo, Carol Humeu, Lenisha Torepa, Angela Gerry, Consie Wamura (POM Gold); Naomi Kaupa, Jaclyn Sele, Manda Ipat, Betty Kawage,Dela Audam, Presin Kuri, Solostica Waula, Daisy John, Rachael Wanpis (POM Green); Macinta John, Laka Iuata, Elli Mai, Dianne Aki, Sandra Jerry,Wendy Kunei (POM Suburban).
