People still living on Manam: Leader

MANY Manam people are still living on Manam Island despite knowing that the island is an active volcano, a community leader says.
Yabu local level government president Kenny Boli said most of them chose to return to the island because of the hardships faced in the care centres in Bogia.
“The main issues forcing them to move back to the island are the shortage of land and resources to sustain themselves,” he said.
Boli told The National that the solution lay in building human resources by providing quality education to children in care centres.
He said a high school should be built at Tabele Primary School in the Potsdam care centre.
