POLICE have warned people involved in criminal activities to stop as they will only end up in trouble with the law.
Metropolitan Superintendent Chief Inspector Chris Kunyanban was responding to the killings of two men in a shoot-out with police on Saturday. Three others were injured and three were arrested.
Chief Inspector Kunyanban said about 10 armed men had allegedly robbed a gold buyer at the main market and fled with a substantial amount of money and more than 100 grams of gold.
Police were alerted and caught up with them.
Chief Inspector Kunyanban said the main suspect who died during the shoot-out had been warned by police many times in the past to stop breaking the law.
He has a pending case in court and was on bail.
Police are using the police toll free phone numbers, closed circuit television (CCTV), WhatsApp and social media to interact with members of the public who pass on information to help in their investigation.
“I want to warn criminals to be very careful when conducting their activities because even though police have challenges, they will still carry out their mandatory duties in protecting people and businesses from criminals,” he said.
