People urged to get vaccines

PRIME Minister James Marape is urging the public to get vaccinated immediately as the Coronavirus (Covid-19) death toll continues to climb nationwide.
As of Oct 21, 329 deaths and 385 new cases were reported in Papua New Guinea.
The highly infectious and deadlier Covid-19 Delta variant cases is at 191.
“Complacency must be a thing of the past for Papua New Guineans. Your health must be your responsibility, if you do not want to be vaccinated, then remain in your home and take care of yourself and your family.
“The Government continues to encourage people to be vaccinated and we will not force people to be vaccinated. But if you do not want to be vaccinated, stay away from the crowds, stay away from getting Covid-19.
“If you get Covid-19, you can pass it on to another and you could lose a family member or a loved one. Be responsible to our country, family and ourselves,” he added.
Marape said the Government would continue to work towards ensuring the country’s medical capacity in the provinces was up to standard, priortising areas that needed urgent attention.
