PETE’S PUNCHLINE

Sports

  • Lae City will probably have a little too much experience and class for Vitiaz in this weekend’s NSL final but there will be some shaky moments for the defending champs.
  • I wrote off Rafael Nadal a month ago saying he was on the way out but it seems like the old Spaniard might still have an ace or two up his sleeve at the French Open. He’s been great on clay for so long, and he’s aiming to equal Federer’s 20 Grand Slams. Buena suerte, amigo.
  • Bledisloe Cup on Sunday in Wellington. The Wallabies squad is picked with an eye to the future. I cannot see Australia winning. They’ve got too many untested players as well as a coach making his international debut. All Blacks by plenty.
  • It’s been a weird last round of Premier League action: Man Utd getting six put on them by the Spurs, Liverpool dropping the ball massively to Aston Villa and Leicester falling to West Ham. Man Utd and Liverpool will probably win their matches this weekend but I’m not sure about Leicester.
  • Richmond to hammer St Kilda while it’s a toss up between the ‘Pies and Cats in this weekend’s AFL semis.
  • I actually think Parra might come close to beating the Rabbits on Saturday. No Sivo and Fergo means the Eels won’t have guys prone to the odd brain explosion or injury on the field. And the Raiders in a nail-biter over the Chooks.
  • It’s make or break for the Heat in Game 5 tomorrow. Hope, Jimmy Buckets gets some help from Bam, Crowder and Herro. It’s all or nothing fellas. LeBron is looming. – PGTP ([email protected])
