PETROMIN PNG Holdings Ltd will support the Boroko Amateur Swimming Club (BASC) in its endeavours to coach and prepare swimmers for local and international competitions.
Petromin corporate services general manager Sam Inguba said yesterday when presenting two eskies and a K3,000 cheque for “pool gold lane” sponsorship support to the BASC president Greg Runnegar.
Inguba said the eskies valued at K552 form part of the raffle prizes to be drawn soon by BASC in its fundraising effort to support coaching programmes and other preparations to improve swimming skills of club members for various competitions.
“As part of our socially responsible obligation to the wide community, we are happy to assist BASC in ensuring the continued development of skilled swimmers in such a highly competitive sport.  We are
keen to support our young swimmers as part of Petromin’s commitment towards the advancement of future generations of our country,” he said.
“PNG must continue to build on the recent success of our swimmers led by Ryan Pini during the Pacific Games held in New Caledonia this year.”
Runnegar expressed BASC’s appreciation for the support and kind donation from Petromin to the club which has over 400 registered members.
Annual sponsors for a “pool gold lane” will each have their permanent signs located at starting blocks at each end of the pool for each of the eight lanes and would be acknowledged at all carnivals held at the Taurama pool.
