MOROBE will benefit from a proposed K2 million public library that will be built by the provincial education department with the National Libraries and Archives in Lae.
Provincial education adviser, Keith Tangui, said the National Libraries and Archives from the Department of Education had allocated K2 million for the construction of the library.
Tangui said a team from the Education Department would be in the province to secure land, confirm designs and allow groundwork to start.
“We wanted to make a big library with everything in it, a library that is fit for the city,” he said.
“We have worked together with the National Libraries and Archives from the Department of Education and then we will work together with the provincial government so that we can partner to build a library that will cater for students and the public.”
Tangui said the provincial education board (PEB) had made a submission to the provincial executive council (PEC) to help the partners with K5 million.
“Once the PEC approves our submission, we will get started,” he said.
