WOMEN’S representative are urging authorities to stop the “terrorists” going around the Transgogol area in Madang killing people.
Marie Keus, whose cousin sister Melib Kori was hacked to death in her home last Monday, said women were now afraid to even go to their gardens because of the group.
“These are not ordinary killers but terrorists operating in Transgogol claiming innocent lives,” Keus said.
Mother-of-seven Melib, her husband Kawas and eldest son Greg were killed by men armed with knives.
Melib and Greg were attacked inside the family home.
Keus said women who could not defend themselves were killed with their husbands and children.
The group was formed in 2014.
“I invite women around the country to help us air our voices to the government so that police round up these men,” she said.
Keus called on Madang Governor Peter Yama, Madang MP Byran Kramer, Madang provincial police commander Chief Inspector Ben Neneo, Police Commissioner Gary Baki and Prime Minister Peter O’Neill to stop the “terrorist” killings.
Madang Council of Women president Mary Kamang said the killings had left many children orphaned.
“The police should clamp down on this issue quickly,” Kamang said.
“The woman who was killed recently has left behind six children who will struggle all their lives to survive in an environment where they need their mother’s care, love and protection.”
