PMC will benefit the rich

Letters, Normal

THE proponents of Port Moresby Medical Centre (PMC) and their supporters like Jok Pokkie (The National, June 15) support this government’s plan to establish this health hub simply because of their parochial views.
Regretfully, this so-called world class project will not improve PNG’s appalling health indicators but will cause pandemonium if the government has shares in this project.
Prof Glen Mola is one of the best persons to debate this project.
He has a holistic view of the health care and his concern is the diversion of resources by the government to serve the minority well-to-do Papua New Guineans at the expense of others and he has the support of all Papua New Guinean health experts.
To say that Mola can do little to help Papua New Guineans is absolutely an understatement by the writer who has no idea of Mola’s contribution.
As a Papua New Guinean, his private and public contributions to the health of Papua New Guineans are second to none. No individual proponents of PMC or its supporters like the writer can match Mola’s contributions to this country.
Commenting on his private clinic is regrettable.
