THE annual Prime Ministers Corporate Golf Challenge will be held again this year after it was cancelled in 2021 due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The first event will be held at the Lae Golf Club on Friday and the second will be held at the Royal Port Moresby Golf Club on April 22.
These events are part of the Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee’s efforts to raise funds for Team PNG’s participation in the June 17-25 Pacific Mini Games in the Northern Marianas and the July 28-Aug 8 Commonwealth Games in England. Private and public organisations are invited to support these events by registering a team for this worthy cause.
With two Team PNG contingents scheduled to attend the Games, the committee is faced with the challenge of raising K4.5 million to ensure their participation.
Committee president Sir John Dawanincura acknowledged the Lae and Port Moresby business communities for their support in last month’s Trukai Fun Run auctions, with K375,000 being raised for Team PNG.
“Thanks to the organisations that have registered their teams.
“With the current challenges due to the pandemic over the last two years, we are hoping that we will get a good number of teams for Lae and Port Moresby,” said Sir John.
Secretary-general Auvita Rapilla acknowledged the continued support of The National, Ela Motors, Air Niugini, Brian Bell Group, Theodist Limited, Media Partners, Trophy Haus and South Pacific Brewery.
“We also welcome interested organisations that wish to sponsor holes to promote their products, services and brands,” he said.
Registration for the Lae and Port Moresby challenges will close today on April 20 respectively.
With the mammoth task of raising funds for Team PNG to the two Games this year, registration for both events has been set at K4,000 per team.
“Interested individuals and organisations that require more information about the events can contact our marketing and events coordinator on 323 1499, 325 1411 or e-mail [email protected],” the committee said.
Meanwhile, the committee will be finalsiing its contingent for the Mini Games in June.
