THE Moresby Soccer Association (PMSA) is looking at reforms with the aim of improving its standards from next year.
Association president Joseph Ealedona made this statement when recently announcing the association’s calendar for next year.
Ealedona said PMSA was the biggest football association in the country and that it should be institutionalised to improve its standards.
“PMSA is based in the nation’s capital city, we have every opportunity to be better, more organised and lift our standards in all aspects,” Ealedona said.
“That is why our executives have established a reform committee.
“They will put in place a discussion paper which we will give to all clubs.
“This paper is a summary that will give a rundown of where we are now and where we want to go from next year. We will have stakeholder meetings next year.
“By the end of next year, we should have a strategic plan of how we will move forward and a business plan of how to get more corporate support.”
Ealedona said Gordon Manub had been appointed to lead the reforms.
Manub said the association had been running without a strategic plan for over 36 years and the reforms would set the benchmark and market football in the city as a product.
“We want to set up pillars to help improve the way PMSA sells football in the city,” he said.
“We are competing with other codes and our aim is to get more people following our competition.”
Manub said their plans covered the next three years with an aim to align themselves with the planning cycle of the Papua New Guinea Football Association and Fifa.
