PNG Air resumes flights to Lihir Island

PNG Air is recommencing regular commercial flights to Kunaye Airport on Lihir Island.
The flights will operate on Tuesdays and Thursdays to Lihir and return on Wednesdays and Fridays using the ATR 72-600 aircraft.
PNG Air said in a media statement that the first commercial flight was scheduled to operate today.
Flights were suspended in 2020 due to the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
Passengers must maintain wearing of face masks on board the aircraft and fill out the health declaration form which will be presented upon arrival to local health authorities.
On arrival in Lihir, passengers are required to undergo rapid diagnostic tests, and will be cleared to exit the terminal pending return of negative test results.
