The Government’s initiative to sell water to Australia is absurd and not in the best interest of all families in the country.

Firstly, water is a huge problem in the country.

People in the villages and even in towns and cities like Port Moresby, people are crying out for clean and safe drinking water.

People in the villages are drinking water from contaminated water holes or creeks.

So how can the government ignore the people’s flight for clean drinking water and pipe water to Australia for money?

Secondly, the environmental impact should be very closely monitored. If the water is piped from a dam in Mount Giluwe, what will happen to the environment in and around that are?

We have seen no environmental success stories from mining throughout the country. It is just disaster after disaster.

How can the government guarantee environmental safety?

Finally, the government is very rich from the earnings from LNG and mining activities throughout the country and yet it is financially struggling.

Again how can the country guarantee us that the money it gets for selling our water will benefit us.
