THE Papua New Guinea Customs Service was among several organisations that conducted an awareness and careers expo at Kokopo Secondary School, East New Britain, this week.
The activities were part of a two-day expo themed: “Believe in yourself, choose wisely.”
It started on Monday and ended yesterday and attracted hundreds of students from schools in Kokopo.
Customs Acting Commissioner Ray Paul said the initiative was part of the organisation’s community service responsibility.
He said they advised students to be conscious of the important functions and responsibilities of Customs as citizens of this country and the products and activities that could threaten their communities’ livelihood.
“That awareness was carried out by our Islands region officers based in Kokopo, as well as officers from the headquarters in Port Moresby,” Paul said.
The awareness was part of an islands region awareness drive as officers were conducting similar campaigns for schools and people in Manus.
Lihir, Kavieng, Bougainville and other New Guinea Islands centres will be covered in the campaign.
