PNG judge to serve in Solomon Islands

A SENIOR Papua New Guinea judge was appointed as a Supreme Court judge of the Solomon Islands Court of Appeal before their Governor-General Sir Frank Ofagioro Kabui in Honiara yesterday.
Solomon Islands Chief Justice Sir Albert Palmer expressed appreciation to the Papua New Guinea judiciary for its support in providing Justice Les Gavara-Nanu.
Justice Gavara-Nanu is the fourth most senior judge of the Papua New Guinea National and Supreme Courts.
He said he was looking forward to the opportunity to serve in the wider Pacific judiciary as a consequence of the appointment.
Cooperation between the courts will be a two-way process in judicial support, case management, leadership court management and judicial education through the Papua New Guinea Pacific Centre for Judicial Excellence.
Sir Frank expressed his pleasure at the new appointment.
