THE Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee (PNGOC) will conduct its annual national federations workshop in Port Moresby tomorrow.  The workshop will be attended by representatives from all the 38 national federations affiliated to PNGOC. Higher Education, Research, Technology and Sports Minister Wesley Raminai has also been invited to attend along with PNG Sports Foundation acting executive director Micah James and officials of the 8th PNG Games Sports Directorate. PNGOC secretary general Auvita Rapilla said the workshop was mainly to present PNGOC’s new strategic plan and Team PNG’s performance strategy that were recently endorsed by the board for 2021-2024. The full-day workshop will have PNGOC present details around the new strategic plan and Team PNG performance strategy, which includes new procedures and policies as well as guidelines and templates developed to assist federations with their plans during this period. The directorate will also have an opportunity to give an update on the Games scheduled for the end of 2021. Rapilla said it was important for federations to attend the workshop to familiarise themselves with PNGOC’s new strategic direction and to understand how PNGOC could support them with their plans. Taking into consideration Covid-19 restrictions, federations are encouraged to each register two representatives. PNGOC has received approval from National Pandemic Response Controller David Manning to conduct the workshop and will be following the ‘Niupela Pasin’ measures on the day. For any queries on the workshop can be answered by Team PNG performance coordinator Chris Amini on 3251 411 or 3251 449.
