SELECTED staff from the Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee (PNGOC) will be attending an online digital accelerator workshop tomorrow, to be facilitated by the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC).  ANOC secretary-general Gunilla Lindberg said the workshop was aimed at enhancing digital and social media capabilities of respective national Olympic committees (NOCs) to be on par and effectively deliver on upcoming social media campaigns going forward, particularly the Tokyo Olympic Games from late July to August. She said the workshop was part of a recommendation in the Olympic movement for the NOCs to grow their digital engagement through social media platforms, in line with a new proposed International Olympic Committee roadmap strategic key area to improve on, including ways to maximise commercial results. PNGOC secretary-general Auvita Rapilla expressed her gratitude to ANOC for the workshop which was important to equip NOCs with the ability to effectively deliver on social media. “Social media has become a necessary platform for content and information dissemination,” she said. “It is pleasing to see training focused on building and leveraging the various social media platforms available at our disposal. Our goal is to meet our audience where they socially interact and engage in meaningful content and conversations.”The recommendations were part of a questionnaire undertaken by the ANOC as part of a study to ascertain respective NOCs statuses in terms of social media engagement and focus on areas that needs to be re-looked at to maximise social reach.
