PNG Orchids challenged

Letters

THE current PNG Orchids cannot be called PNG Orchids when in fact it is a make shift team of women living and playing in Port Moresby.
Watching the game between the Orchids and Fiji Bulikulas, our team look older apart from number one (1) and (6).
The Orchids team members’ physical stature and appearance are of people well in the thirties.
By contrast, the Fijians look boyish, slim and young. You can tell instantly they are in their teens and early twenties.
The Orchids is seen as the best PNG got in Women’s Rugby League.
They carry the pride and the name of this country.
They do not play for themselves, they play for the country.
Within 10 minutes of the Orchids versus the Fiji game, many women can be seen with hands on the hips and lower lips hanging, a clear sign of fatigue and winded.
Symptoms found in human beings over 30s.
The nation must never be embarrassed by the selectors’ failure to see past these facts.
PNG, the nation of rugby league mad supporters must not be made a laughing stock by a few self-centered people.
This has not been a true representation of the women’s rugby league in PNG and must not be called “PNG” Orchids.
Needless to say stop producing make shift team as PNG Orchids for future tournaments if PNG women’s rugby league is not yet fully developed.
